Senior Strategist (Ad Operations)

We are looking for somebody with Ad Operations experience to help us create and execute results-driven online advertising campaigns for our progressive political and responsible corporate clients.

To the Ad Ops professionals reading this: you should join us because we’re not a giant chop-shop who treats Ad Ops as a back office job. Instead of using “go between minders” (account executives) to report results to the client, we train our strategist to be expert, full stack marketing consultants. Our strategists work directly with client decision makers to 1) decide how to prioritize campaigns, 2) buy the ads, 3) set up reports to optimize and show success, 4) communicate results directly to the client, and 5) repeat and grow. Clients like this level of connection better, and for our Strategists (unlike a lot of ad ops jobs) growing as a well-rounded consultant means this position has lots of potential for advancement. Specific Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day ad buying processes including: campaign set-up, trafficking, troubleshooting, QA, reporting and campaign optimization
  • Build and manage digital campaigns across multiple platforms, such as Google AC, Facebook Ads, Apple Search Ads, DV 360, Outbrain/Taboola/Gemini, incent publishers like TapJoy, preinstall publishers like Digital Turbine, affiliate/offer wall sources, and other networks
  • Work with both the client, internal teams, and direct buy sales reps to ensure that all parties are tracking toward campaign launch timelines and performance goals
  • Utilize Measurement Platforms to review performance results regularly and optimize campaigns, including suggestions for improved performance by ad network, creative or by ad-type
  • Bonus if you have experience working with mobile ad operations specifically including mobile app install ad products and conversion tracking tech (e.g. experience with Firebase events and an understanding of how the telemetry with an MMP like AppsFlyers and in-app platform conversion tracking should communicate)


  • We assume qualified candidates for this position will have this kind of professional experience:
    • 2+ year experience of hands-on, in-platform advertising operations/digital media buying experience. Ideally this includes:
      • 1+ years experience in programmatic display and video buying
      • 1+ years experience in Google Ads, Apple Search Ads, and Facebook Ads
  • That said, we will also consider candidates with related experience, provided a proven track record of direct-response style ad buying excellence.

Please note: Inexperience with any of the above will not rule out otherwise qualified applicants with exceptional ad buying, marketing tech, and analytics skills, as we are happy to train motivated professionals on the specific ad channels and deliverables we work with regularly.

This position is remote within the continental United States, or in-office (including flex schedules between office/home) in Washington, DC (a small number of location exclusions apply)


Compensation is commensurate with experience and skills, but our compensation assumption for this position is a base salary of $75-84k, with significant bonuses based on company and individual performance (averaging 1-3 months salary).
